About the Role
About us
BlockchainUnmasked is revolutionizing cryptocurrency forensic investigations through advanced automation, data ingestion, and digestion technologies, combined with cutting-edge security solutions. Our flagship product, Sherlock, is a powerful platform designed for real-time tracking, tracing, and analysis of crypto crimes, dramatically accelerating investigation times to boost success rates in interdiction, recovery, and prevention. We also pioneer ultra-secure wallets and hardware tokens with quantum-resistant technology. As we expand our impact in combating financial crime in decentralized networks, we're seeking a skilled Blockchain Investigator to join our team and drive high-stakes investigations that protect victims and support global law enforcement.
Role overview
As a Blockchain Investigator, you will lead and conduct in-depth investigations into cryptocurrency-related fraud, scams, and illicit activities using advanced blockchain tracing techniques, AI-powered tools, and OSINT methodologies. You will analyze complex transaction flows, demix obfuscated funds, identify patterns of criminal behavior, and digest vast datasets to uncover actionable insights. This role requires seamless collaboration with clients, law firms, federal law enforcement agencies, and occasionally victims, ensuring all interactions are handled with utmost professionalism, confidentiality, and precision. You will play a pivotal role in turning raw blockchain data into compelling reports that drive recoveries, prosecutions, and preventive measures.
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive blockchain investigations into fraud, money laundering, hacks, phishing, ransomware, and other crypto crimes, utilizing tools like Sherlock for real-time tracing and analysis.
Apply advanced techniques such as demixing (e.g., unraveling mixers and tumblers), pattern recognition, and entity clustering to trace fund flows across multiple blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.).
Digest and preprocess large-scale on-chain and off-chain data, integrating AI/ML for anomaly detection and predictive insights.
Leverage OSINT tools and techniques to correlate blockchain activity with real-world entities, including social media, public records, and dark web monitoring.
Collaborate with clients, law firms, federal law enforcement, and victims to gather requirements, provide updates, and deliver expert testimony or affidavits as needed.
Prepare detailed investigative reports, visualizations, and presentations that clearly articulate findings, methodologies, and recommendations for asset recovery or legal action.
Stay ahead of emerging threats by monitoring blockchain security trends, evolving criminal tactics, and regulatory developments.
Contribute to the enhancement of internal tools and processes, including feedback on Sherlock's AI features for improved investigative efficiency.
Ensure all investigations comply with legal standards, data privacy regulations, and ethical guidelines.
Mentor junior team members and participate in cross-functional projects with developers and security experts.
